Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead the implementation of “Tsurugi,” our in-house developed next-generation ultra-high-speed RDB.
You will conduct a proof of concept (PoC) for “Tsurugi” primarily for systems handling large volumes of data—such as those involving AI and IoT—and for data processing challenges that could not be addressed using conventional RDBs.
As a Technical Project Manager, you will begin by working with the sales team to gather customer requirements and identify challenges. You will then conduct requirement analysis, create prototypes independently, and present proposals.
The project will be accepted as a Proof of Concept (PoC), and your responsibilities will be wide-ranging, including determining the appropriate technologies, liaising with customers, designing the overall system architecture, managing the project, performing partial implementation (primarily in Java), and providing support.

&lt;Main Job Responsibilities&gt;
・Management (in-house staff and some partner companies involved in the Tsurugi implementation), customer negotiations, quotations, project management, requirements definition, and design
・Prototyping and implementation (Java, other languages, AI)
・Tsurugi support (answering questions, providing operational tools, troubleshooting, design, reviews, creating sample code, etc.)

・ Proof-of-concept experiment as the database infrastructure for a new data center service utilizing Kyushu Electric Power’s power and fiber-optic network

Required Skills and Experiences

■Required Qualifications ・Experience in Java development and the ability to actively implement solutions ・Project management experience 　→ Experience making technical proposals to external clients and experience with business systems 　→ Ability to handle everything from proposal to implementation (prototyping) as a hands-on manager ・Experience working on new data processing projects, such as high-volume/high-speed data processing, AI, and IoT ■Preferred Qualifications ・Development experience using AI ・Basic knowledge of and experience building infrastructure and cloud systems ・Experience with database tuning ・A specific area of expertise in system development ■Ideal Candidate Profile ・Someone who loves technology and is committed to continuous learning, including new technologies ・Someone who wants to pursue a career in technology ・Someone who wants to work with autonomy

Salary Structure
Payment method: 1/12 of annual salary paid monthly
The above amount includes the deemed overtime pay (158,500 yen to 238,000 yen for 40 hours per month).
Extra wages will be paid when late night work/work on holidays occurs.

What Is “Tsurugi,” One of the World’s Fastest RDBs? Developed through a joint research and development project with NEC and university laboratories under NEDO’s (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) “Technology Development for AI Chips and Next-Generation Computing Enabling High Efficiency and High-Speed Processing” initiative (the RDB engine was developed by Nautilus Technologies). Released as open-source software (OSS) in October 2023, it is a next-generation, ultra-high-speed RDB developed entirely in Japan. It is a database that ensures consistency as an RDBMS while performing parallel processing at the core level in-memory. It is lock-free and supports simultaneous execution of batch and online operations. It supports standard SQL and provides development APIs for languages such as Java.
