Job Description

We are seeking Java engineers to implement “Tsurugi,” our in-house developed next-generation ultra-high-speed RDB.
Our company is conducting a proof of concept (PoC) for the implementation of “Tsurugi,” a purely Japanese-developed RDB that ranks among the world’s fastest, to address data processing challenges—such as those involving systems that handle large volumes of data (e.g., AI and IoT)—that could not be resolved using conventional RDBs.
As a Java Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting PoCs, technical validation, tool development, and providing support to maximize performance during the implementation of “Tsurugi.”
(Scope of duties: As determined by the company)

&lt;Main Responsibilities&gt;
・Requirements definition, basic design, detailed design, implementation (primarily in Java), AI-based development, and testing
・Customer support and Tsurugi support (answering questions, providing operational tools, analyzing issues, design, reviews, creating sample code, etc.)

■ Tsurugi’s Development Projects and Proof-of-Concept Experiments

・Collection of telemetry data from 21 Formula cars in motion during the Super Formula races organized by JRP, along with data processing and analysis through AI integration
・Proof-of-concept experiment as the database infrastructure for a new data center service utilizing Kyushu Electric Power’s power and fiber-optic network

Required Skills and Experiences

■Required Qualifications ・Java development experience (approximately 5 years) 　→ Ability to independently design and develop systems ・Experience developing business systems using RDBs ・Experience covering the entire development process from basic design onward (experience with requirements definition may be required depending on your background) ■Preferred Qualifications ・Experience in AI-based development ・Basic knowledge of and experience in building infrastructure and cloud systems ・Experience in database tuning ・A specific area of expertise in system development ■Ideal Candidate Profile ・Someone who is passionate about technology and continues to learn, including new technologies ・Someone who wants to pursue a career in technology ・Someone who wants to work with autonomy

Salary Structure
Payment method: 1/12 of annual salary paid monthly
The above amount includes deemed overtime pay (119,000 yen to 178,500 yen for 40 hours per month).
Extra wages will be paid when late-night work/work on holidays occurs.

What Is “Tsurugi,” One of the World’s Fastest RDBs? Developed through a joint research and development project with NEC and university laboratories under NEDO’s (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) “Technology Development for AI Chips and Next-Generation Computing Enabling High Efficiency and High-Speed Processing” initiative (the RDB engine was developed by Nautilus Technologies). Released as open-source software (OSS) in October 2023, it is a next-generation, ultra-high-speed RDB developed entirely in Japan. It is a database that ensures consistency as an RDBMS while performing parallel processing at the core level in-memory. It is lock-free and supports simultaneous execution of batch and online operations. It supports standard SQL and provides development APIs for languages such as Java.
