Job Description

What is the Group R&amp;D Division? The Group R&amp;D Division provides technical support, development, analysis, and other services to help businesses succeed in the startup and cross-group projects that the Group is focusing on in its business areas.

Main Business Domains
Internet infrastructure business (domains, hosting/cloud, access, settlement, EC support, security)
Internet advertising and media business (media, ad tech, coupons/points)
Internet financial business (securities, banking)
Crypto asset (virtual currency) business (exchange, mining, NFT)

We are constantly researching and developing the latest technologies, and are quick to introduce them into our business to achieve results.

Project Operations
You will first participate in one of the following projects. You will then either further develop your expertise or join other projects to build a career of your choice, depending on your performance.

Fintech projects
You will understand the nature of the financial services offered by our group and improve profitability by successfully handling financial data that is difficult to predict, while making full use of data science techniques such as mathematical modeling and machine learning.

2. adtech projects
In RTB (real-time bidding), one of the main mechanisms of Internet advertising, we mainly design and develop machine learning models for DSP (Demand-Side Platform), which optimizes cost-effectiveness for those who place advertisements, and measure their effectiveness.

3. app projects
We will use causal inference techniques to measure the effectiveness of new features and measures for apps that facilitate free WiFi connections, and improve the KPI of the service by setting up a system for data-driven management decisions.

4. other projects
We will apply data analysis and machine learning techniques to assist with crypto asset transactions, fraud detection, etc.

Research and development work
While working on the project, all members will spend a certain amount of time researching cutting-edge machine learning methods and new applications of machine learning.
In addition, members appointed on a quarterly basis will focus on research and development.

Attractiveness of the Position
1. You will be able to directly handle the world's largest financial data, ad-tech data of several hundred terabytes, etc., and learn the technologies (Hadoop, PySpark, etc.) for analyzing big data.
2. analyze various types of data such as time-series data, user behavior data, and articles.
3. learn about the business in your area of responsibility, such as FinTech and AdTech, and keep up to date with cutting-edge machine learning, deep learning, and statistical methods.
3. You will acquire three important skills (business understanding, data science, and engineering) and develop one or more of your strengths.
4. As a department under the direct control of the group CTO, the selection of technologies is left to the field, so you will be able to verify and introduce cutting-edge technologies on your own.
5. Since all services are in-house, you will be able to work with the business units to set issues, think of solutions, and implement improvement cycles based on data science.
6. Depending on your performance and motivation, you can freely take on the challenge of conducting research and development on the team's key themes.
7. The team is diverse, consisting of PhDs and engineers who have been active in academic fields.

Required Skills and Experiences

【Required】・Experience in probability theory and statistics at an academic institution, research institute, or specialized department of a company, and experience in analyzing data using these methods. ・Experience in solving problems using mathematical models in an academic institution, research institute, or specialized department of a company ・Experience coding in major programming languages (Python, Java, C/C++, etc.) ・Experience learning and trying at least one of the leading "machine learning" methods 【Preferred】・Experience in probability theory/statistics ・Experience using "machine learning" models to solve problems and achieving real results ・Experience working with financial engineering (pricing, risk management, trading systems, market structure, etc.) ・Experience in ad tech (CTR forecasting, DSP/SSP/DMP/ad networks, etc.) ・Extensive experience coding in Python ・Experience with PyData (numpy, scipy, pandas, scikit-learn, etc.)
